birth announcement

Don’t you love to get mail? I do. E-mail can be fun too, but I do that at work all day long, so it’s losing its luster. I mean that I love to get real-live USPS mail. Every night when Allen gets home, he brings in the mail. (For the record, I would – but it’s Winter. And once I’m in the garage, I’m in for good. It’s just a few steps from my warm car to my warm house, and I don’t dare venture out into the frigid cold for a stack of junk mail!) So last night when he tossed me this little jewel in it’s hand-addressed envelope, I was excited to open it.

You see, a few months ago, I had the pleasure of shooting a maternity session for Gracie and John. Their first child, Douglas, was born right before Christmas. When John called to ask if I would take pictures of Douglas for the birth announcement, I happily agreed. We took our time and let Douglas settle in. He is such a sweet-natured baby and didn’t seem to mind the huge camera in his face. We did need to stop once so he could eat, but in the end, we got some really cute shots.

This was my first attempt at creating a baby announcement, and I was honored that they chose to go with one of my designs. The order was shipped directly to their house, so I hadn’t seen the finished product until last night. I think they turned out great.

Isn’t he absolutely precious? Hi baby Douglas. I love your big curious eyes. I can’t wait till you get a little older, and we take more pictures of you!
