anatomy of a photo

Allen’s brother, Shane, finally tied the knot on Saturday. It was a beautiful wedding and rip-roaring fun reception. Just as the weekend before, I took way too many pictures and am now having a hard time narrowing it down into a manageable bunch. As I was downloading them from my camera tonight and doing my preliminary flip through, this photo caught my eye. This is Shane and Jacquelyn during formal pictures after the ceremony. (Andrea’s younger sister McKenLee is on the far left.)

By itself, I think it is a super cute picture, but it is the images that led up to it that had me laughing out loud. During the wedding party’s pictures, we were all cracking up and acting silly. They were taking formal shots of the groom and the bridesmaids when the wedding photographer got sidetracked. She left them unattended for less than a minute, but it was just enough time for me to catch their attention and get this great set of shots. I love how you can follow the progression of them talking between themselves to noticing me to paying attention to me to hamming it up for the great shot above.  I love the expression on McKenLee’s face too.

Don’t you just love the anatomy of a photo? — I just made up that phrase, but I like it. Being there to capture the little real-life moments like this is what I love so much about photography. There are so many shots from the wedding I want to share, so stop back by later this week to see some more. Until then, I’ll take a cue from Shane — peace out.

Paige - I think those photos so capture Shane and Jacquelyn. As soon as they both realize the camera is on them, they start hamming it up.March 31, 2009 – 7:33 pm

deb wood - Oooooh! I love the vibrant color in these photos. I’m looking forward to seeing the whole gallery. PS: Jacquelyn looks so beautiful…March 31, 2009 – 8:48 am
