what a weekend!

I can honestly say that this was one of the busiest weekends I’ve had in a very long time. Allen was out of town for a fishing tournament, so I took advantage of the free time and scheduled back-to-back-to-back photography gigs. It’s now (very) late Sunday night, but this is the first real chance I’ve had to catch up on edititng and blogging. I know you’re all just dying to know what I did this weekend, but I only have the energy for the abbreviated what-I-did-Saturday version.

Saturday morning started bright and early. Actually it started dark and early, because I left the house before the sun came up. I’ve never pretended to be a morning person, and I’d be lying if I said it was easy to get up at 10 after 5 on a Saturday. I won’t complain though because I saw the most beautiful sunrise on my way out that morning. It had the kind of colors and light that make you remember how great it is to be alive. Really, it was that pretty.

I spent the morning photographing a 5k race. Allen and I ran it two years ago, and I much preferred playing photographer instead of runner. I stayed afterward for the Spring festival that was being held in the town square. My mother-in-law set up as a vendor, so I kept her company for a while before heading home. I had already had a full days work, and it was only 11 a.m.

Did you know that my mother-in-law is a seamstress? Well, she is. And a fabulous one at that. She makes the most darling children’s clothes and has such a talent for choosing fabrics and colors. I’m always amazed at the cute ideas she comes up with. I made a Halloween costume once, but I made it way too small and had to drive four hours to my grandmother’s house so that she could salvage the damage I’d done!

She makes these too. LOVE them.

After the Spring festival, I took a quick breather before I headed out to my afternoon session… but more on that later this week. A big thanks to Hillary for shooting with me and for e-mailing me the fun behind-the-scenes shots.

And yes, I wear white running socks with my Merrills. Get over it.
