For Wilder’s first birthday, his parents planned a fabulous fiesta-themed party complete with a piñata (for the kids) and margaritas (for the grown-ups). There was even a sombrero and little fake mustaches. Wilder wasn’t happy about wearing either, so that left plenty for the rest of us. No, I won’t be sharing that picture. Katie and Rachel, you can thank me later.
I’ve been to two other one-year-old birthday parties already this year. My nephew Cade turned one in February and my little friend Jackson turned one in May. Both times, the cake eating has ended in tears. So when Wilder’s mom sat him down in front of his cake, I was expecting the waterworks to follow shortly. Boy was I wrong…

He LOVED it. I think he might have eaten the entire thing. He laughed and laughed, which made all of us laugh. I’m sure he wondered while we were all just standing around watching him eat, so after a few minute he started trying to share. He even tried to share with me. Such a sweet boy.

He didn’t even stop for the family picture.

Happy Birthday Wilder… even if I am two weeks late. But I was there that day, so technically, it’s not belated… something to think about.
