My good pal Katie has the two most adorable children. Their sweet faces have become regular features in my photographic life, and I love it. Back in June during the height of my summer portrait sessions, I briefly blogged about Wilder’s first birthday. The photos of Wilder eating his cake still make me laugh. But there were a bunch of other pictures from that day that I haven’t had a chance to show you until now.
I don’t know what it is, but I adore this photo. Katie has had her Canon DSLR since before I even knew what that meant. She is an awesome photographer, but I can’t quite seem to spark her in interest in expanding that beyond her own kiddos.

Oh, Finn. Man I love this kid. He is all boy, all the time. We all got such a kick out of watching him on the tire swing. His dad would tell him, “Hold on tight and cross your legs.” And then would swing him out over the grass. Finn would just laugh and laugh. I tried really hard to get a shot of it, but catching a clear focus on a swinging two-year-old is a lot harder than I thought!

I feel like I say this every single time, but those baby blues are his god-given gorgeous eyes — not some fake Photoshop version. They are so blue, they are almost clear and are absolutely beautiful!

Finn had on this super cute pair of baby converse sneakers. I tried and tried to get a good picture of them all day with no luck. Finally, I just swooped him over into my lap and took the picture on my own terms. I love this one.

A few months ago, the family was at our house for dinner. Our house is very kid-unfriendly, and I always feel bad for not having toys and fun things for the kids to play with. On this particular night, Finn found his way into our laundry room and pulled out the vaccuum cleaner. He just pushed it around the hardwood floors having a good ole time. I seriously thought it was our lack of things to play with, but between the giant brush and his toy mower, I don’t think that is the case.

Finn and Wilder weren’t the only booger-eaters at the birthday party. Hey Jack! I miss your sweet face. Tell your mom how much you miss me too so she’ll bring you back over real soon, kay?
