I’m not sure how I first heard of Becker. If I had to guess it would probably be through another blog I followed at the time… Anyway, his awesome images and easy-going style have turned me into a loyal blog follower. He is a wedding photographer in Southern California and a co-founder of an awesome online community called the [b] school. It is a place for photographers to network with other photographers; a place where we can learn from, share with and encourage each other. If you are a photographer and have not joined, go check it out. It is through the [b] school and the [b] school blog that I found out about the workshop in Arkansas. Signing up was the easiest business decision I have made in some time.
The workshop focused more on the business side of wedding photography than technique, but we did get out for a quick engagement photography session. It was incredible to watch Becker shoot. It was just click-click this and click-click click-click that. I think he shot more than 1000 images in twenty minutes. All while working with the couple and instructing us. Insane!

Dale Benfield is a wedding photographer in Arkansas who also attended the workshop. He graciously donated one of his 2010 wedding clients to the session. I was more interested in learning from Becker, than capturing for myself, but this is one of the few photos that I did take of the gorgeous bride- and groom-to-be. I wish I had been able to catch of picture of their shoes. He was wearing cool cowboy boots, and she had on purple wedge heels. Too cute!

As I was leaving I grabbed a few quick shots with Becker. (Melina, are you reading? I thought you would appreciate that.) Please excuse the stringy hair and glassy eyes. It had been a long day. My brain was fried. So fried that I fell asleep within 30 minutes of getting back in the car, leaving my dear husband to make the first half of the trip to the sound of tired snores. He is such a trooper!

For those of you who were asking, Becker is a super nice guy. He has this crazy magnetic energy and is so generous with his knowledge of the wedding industry. In all it was a great experience, and I am so glad that I went. Although I’m a member of the [b] school and believe in the philosopy behind it, the workshop was a more personal way to kick that information up a notch. If you are a photographer looking to get a fresh perspective and amp up your business, I definitely recommend it.
