I was excited when Lindsey contacted me about taking photos for her and her three younger sisters. Being surrounded by boys my whole life, there is something really fun to me about sisters who want to get gussied up and have their picture made together. The girls had their makeup done before the session and all looked gorgeous. The girls’ mom came to watch, so we threw her in a few pictures too!

In addition to the group shots, we also did individuals of each girl. Meet Stevie, twins Lauren and Amber and big sister Lindsey.

Photographer Geek Note: This was shot at 1 p.m. in full sun, but thanks to Melissa Jill filling me with her vast knowledge during the MJ 2 Day Workshop, full sun doesn’t scare me anymore! And P.S. I love how this turned one out.

I am going to be real and honest here and tell you that when Lindsey told me they’d be wearing Bama colors for their session I was scared. You just never really know what that means. I was very pleasantly surprised when I saw what each girl was wearing. They were coordinated SO WELL. I really loved their outfits and think it fit the session perfectly. A-plus girls!

I have a lot of favorites from this family session, but this one is at the top of the list. See – sisters are so much fun! My brother would never do this with me.

We teased that this was their boy band pose. Lindsey mentioned NSync, but quickly took it back saying to her sister, “You wouldn’t know who that is”. I’m going to have a child-of-the-eighties moment here for a second, so bare with me. I have JUST NOW come to terms with the fact that there are young girls out there who don’t know who New Kids on the Block are. And now I have to worry that they don’t know NSync either!? Oh dear. What is the world coming to? I’m comforted by the fact that Lindsey is my age, so I KNOW SHE KNOWS who Donnie, Danny, Jordan, Jon and Joe are!

We made the full loop and ended the session right back where we began. At this point I knew the girls would be game for a little fun, so I asked each of them to jump up in the statue cubby. After a little prodding, even mom took a turn. I love these!

I had so much fun with this family. I say it all the time, but it’s true… you don’t need a reason to have photographs taken. So many girls my age think they have to wait for an engagment or wedding before hiring a photographer. And most parents stop thinking about family portraits after their children reach a certain age. Grab your husband, your friends, or your three sisters and just do it! You won’t regret it.
Be sure to leave some love in the comment section below. If the girls get 40 comments, each will receive a free 5×7 of their favorite pose as a thank you!
