When Amanda first contacted me about taking her son’s one-year photos, I should have known it would be a great family session. Her name IS Amanda after all… When she told me that they live in Trussville and wanted to have a laid back setting for their family photography, I knew the perfect place to go. The Trussville I grew up in was much different than it is now, but this park is one of the few original Trussville landmarks.
I had so much fun meeting this family and am so happy with how the photos turned out. This sweet baby has the best smiles and was an absolute doll throughout the whole shoot. Pair that with his tiny grey New Balance, and you know why he stole my heart in 30 seconds flat.

I absolutely LOVE this next one. Mom and dad took him down to the other end of the bridge so he could show off his walking skills. I was still testing the light when he peered around his dad’s leg so sweetly. I fired off a round of shots, hoping I caught it and am so glad I did!

He is still a little unsteady when walking on his own, but he did so great while holding onto his mom and dad’s hands. His little steps mark the perfect milestone for his one-year-old pictures.

While Amanda went to the car to get a change of clothes, dad started a tickle war. James laughed and squirmed all over the place. It was too cute.

And of course we had to sneak in a few family pictures while we were at it. Whoever said that good family pictures had to be posed with look-here-and-say-cheese expressions doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Silly people. Don’t worry, I got a few traditional shots too with full heads in the frame, but I love these next two the most.

Another fun family photography session in the books! Bonus points to Amanda for being named Amanda and for being from Trussville. Thank you guys for allowing me to be part of your baby boy’s first birthday!
