Remember when I went to Phoenix in October? Well with all the excitement that surrounded our very scary ATV ride in the desert and my wonderful experience at Melissa Jill’s workshop that I forgot to tell you all about the rest of our trip. It mostly consisted of shopping and tanning and sushi and all the wonderful things that three girls on vacation love to do. I could show you pictures of us laying by the pool or eating one of many fabulous meals, but instead I’ll let Muda be our tour guide.
Muda (moo-duh) is a Bermuda onion magnet that my friend Kristen picked up this summer in… well, Bermuda. Since then, he has become the office mascot, traveling around the WORLD with different folks collecting photographs of himself at each stop. I actually took him to the beach back in September, but failed miserably at taking any photos of him. I promised Kristen that if she let him come with me to Phoenix it would be different. I took him literally everywhere that we went. Of course then I had to go and not show her any pictures for two months, so it almost defeated the purpose. Almost. Kristen, this blog post is for you!
At the recommendation of three separate people, we stayed at the ultra-fab 50′s inspired Hotel Valley Ho. This place was a-mazing! It was in old town Scottsdale and was seriously one of the coolest places I’ve ever stayed. If you are looking for a Hotel Valley Ho review, here’s one: It rocked. So GO! You won’t regret it. Muda enjoyed it too.

This was the courtyard off the back of our room. Each room had double sliding glass doors so that you could open up the entire back wall of your room to the outside deck, creating a true open-air room. If you look behind Muda, you can see how the decks were divided for privacy. If we were in the room, the doors were open. Except at night when we slept. I’m way too paranoid for that.

The pool. The lovely, lovely, freezing cold pool. We spent our entire first day out here. We had a waitress that came by every few minutes so we had lunch and a late afternoon snack right from our pool chairs. It was wonderful. Muda was having so much fun at the pool that he made Robin take a picture with her camera phone and send it to Kristen at work so he could show her. That’s Robin and Ashley at the base of the center palm tree.

Ashley and Muda, pre-wreck. The gaping wound in Ashley’s leg kind of put an end to sitting by the pool after that.

Muda was with us during our ATV excursion too. I wanted to get a picture of him with a Saguaro cactus, but you don’t realize how gigantic those things are until you stand next to one. Little Muda is only a couple of inches tall and the cacti can grow up to 40 feet. This Prickley Pear cactus was just his size. You might not believe me, but the Arizona sky really is that color blue.

Even after Ashley and Robin went home, I still carried Muda with everywhere with me. Here he is at the MJ 2 Day workshop learning all about Social Media.
