I had a chance to photograph the sweetest newborn this weekend. At just 12 days old, Baby Luke is a teeny tiny thing. I prefer to photograph newborns when they are between five and ten days old because (most times) they are really hard sleepers and can be posed more easily. We thought Luke was going to give us a run for the money on trying to get him to sleep. He seemed interested in what we were trying to do and fought sleep in the beginning. It turns out, this is one of only three images I have of him awake. So take a good look at those baby blues, because you won’t be seeing them again!
Luke has two big sisters who were so interested in his photo debut. They kept coming in to take little sneak peeks of what we were doing and give him little kisses. Luke wasn’t even phased. He snoozed through the whole thing.
From the short time I spent with Luke, I think it’s safe to make the call that this is going to be his signature look. I heard about his sweet pouty mouth from several friends who had already met him, and as soon as I saw it I knew this was what they meant.
I saw this blue toboggan on Etsy and couldn’t resist how perfect it was for a January baby boy. Can I please get a collective “AWW!” for these next few?
Um, I’m sorry but I LOVE THIS NEXT ONE. And yes, I do think that needed all caps. To me, everything about it is perfect. The sweet baby, the fluffy blanket, the yummy natural light and the random blue pillow that perfectly matches the tiny blue toboggan. LOVE IT.
The session focused on Baby Luke, so we didn’t get any shots with his big sisters (next time!), but I did snap a few quick shots with Mom and Dad before I left.
I was so excited to get to photograph Luke while he still a tiny newborn. This sweet family is so blessed to have him in their lives. Documenting family milestones is such an awesome thing, and this experience was a beautiful reminder of why I love what I do.
