a little something different

After spending most of January recouping from the holiday session season, I was excited to get things rolling again with a sweet maternity session. Lisa’s sister-in-law is a dear friend and my best client. She is expecting her second child (and first boy!) in just a few weeks. Instead of doing my usual lifestyle maternity session, we mixed it up and did something a little more intimate. I had to think out of the box on this one, but the challenge was fun. And I am loving how the photos turned out.

Lisa is so photogenic and such a natural in front of the camera. I had to do little prompting, if any, which made my job SO easy. That, and she’s gorgeous.

Her top was a simple piece of fabric wrapped and tied in the front. I loved the way it turned out – very Grecian goddess-esque, don’t you think? Thanks a million to her mother-in-law, Pattie, for being on standby for fabric assistance. I was impressed with her pinning skills!

Because we were shooting indoors, the first thing I looked for was a room with the best natural light streaming in. I found it in a spare bedroom. We were working in a small space, and the mirror kept catching me in the shot. I finally just embraced it’s presence and used it to my advantage. Love this one.

I mean, seriously? She’s gorgeous!

The weather turned colder than expected on the morning of the shoot. Lisa was such a sport and toughed it out for a few quick minutes while we grabbed a couple of outdoor shots. Her chill bumps may disagree, but I think it was worth it! : )
