I first got to know Julie and Daniel little more than a month ago when we met to talk about their rapidly approaching wedding. I was intrigued by their relationship — Julie is a scientist, Daniel an author. They play off of each other in the sweetest way, and I immediately picked up on their adoration for one other. I was honored that they chose me to be part of their wedding and capture a small glimpse into the start of their lives together.
The wedding ceremony and reception was held at the historic Rowan House in Leeds. I have driven by hundreds of times and had no idea this little jewel of a wedding venue existed in Birmingham. The quaint setting was perfect for Julie and Daniel’s intimate afternoon wedding, and I really love everything about it. A big thanks to Amy Carson for coming out and shooting with me.
When I arrived to the Rowan House, Julie was already getting dressed. She looked amazing! I was so struck with her timelessness and simple elegance. She reminded me of a throwback to 1940′s Hollywood grace and glamour.

Julie’s bouquet and florals were created by Tiffany at Studio Flower. Each arrangement had the perfect pop of color against all of the newly blooming flowers and trees.

So it turns out that Julie has an amazingly creative side to her. Despite the stress of planning her wedding, Julie was determined to put her talents to good use and bake her own cake! It was gorgeous. The details were hand-crafted, all the way down to the flower petals. I am in awe of her talent. And though I didn’t get to try it, the line to get a peice led away from the table and around the corner. Needless to say, it was a hit.

Julie paced inside the Rowan House prior to the ceremony. I loved watching the nervous energy and excitement unfold as she peered through the windows to see the guests arriving. Before we knew it, it was showtime! Julie’s brother Cohen had the honor of walking her down the aisle.

Cohen began the ceremony by reading scripture and praying with his sister and her husband-to-be before handing the ceremony over to the minister.

I stole Julie and Daniel for a few minutes immediately following the ceremony for some one-on-one time. The light and the weather were so perfect, and they were naturals in front of the camera. I am seriously IN LOVE with their portraits so I’m going to shut up and let the photos speak for themselves…

The cake was a much sought after item, so we got to cutting it right away. I wasn’t kidding about that line for cake… guests were lined up for a taste of Julie’s masterpiece.

The happiness on Julie and Daniel’s faces, and the cheering from their guests as they made their grand exit was the perfect way to wrap up their wedding. The genuine expressions and the timelessness of this image definitely make it a favorite of the day!
