There are a lot of great wedding venues here in Birmingham and around the state of Alabama. But from the moment I became a wedding photographer I have had dreams of packing a travel bag full of gear and heading out to some far away land to shoot a beautiful wedding. That is how #18. Shoot an out-of-state wedding came to be on my 38 in 365 list. And that far away land was Dallas, Texas. Originally I had the goal defined as a “destination” wedding. But my idea of a destination wedding and the actual meaning of a destination wedding didn’t really mesh. I was thinking along the lines of leaving our little house in Birmingham, boarding a plane with above-mentioned travel bag full of gear and fully executing a wedding in unfamiliar territory. And that is what I did. I still have full intentions on including the destination goal on a future list, but I’m taking baby steps here folks…
When Holland and her family first approached me about flying to Dallas to shoot her and Zach’s wedding I was beyond excited. For reasons including that Holland is as nice as she is gorgeous and that their family knows how to throw one heck of a party, I knew it would be a wedding to remember. Allen and I are still completely in awe of the hospitality and generousity we received during our short trip. I have so much to share with you about the wedding in the full post, but that will have to wait until tomorrow. For now I am celebrating the marriage of Holland and Zach and marking another goal off my list!
