rosemary beach photo safari

Highway 30-A is a little stretch of scenic road in South Walton County between Destin and Panama City Beach, Florida. Watercolor, Seaside, Seagrove, Alys Beach and Rosemary Beach are among the iconic neighborhoods that make up Hwy 30-A. We have been staying in this area for years and rarely vacation anywhere else. We spent last week in Seacrest Beach which neighbors my favorite of the 30-A landmarks, Rosemary Beach. It was just a short walk from our condo to the town square, so on our last night Allen and I headed over to snap a few photos before sunset. There are a lot of random photos in this post, but these were a few of my favorites as we strolled through town.

I am teaching Allen how to master my cameras so that I am not the only one who has to take photos in our daily life. He used my backup Canon 50d to practice and get comfortable controlling the camera manually. A few of the photos in this post (like the dinner table above and the porch/water shot below) are his. He is getting pretty darned good, and I am really excited to see him take an interest in learning!

One of my favorite things about Rosemary Beach is the individuality of the homes. They all have such unique characteristics while maintaining a uniformity which completes the neighborhood. We ended up with a lot of photos of the porches and garages, and I had a hard time narrowing them down. (This next one is another of Allen’s shots.)

Even though we were together, I was really doing my own thing and wasn’t paying attention to what Allen was shooting. When I looked back through our combined images there were a lot of pictures of me shooting! It’s kind of a fun thing since I never really get to see that side of my photography, but I totally busted Allen taking this one.

This spiral staircase is one of my favorite spots in Rosemary Beach.

A few random details…

His perspective…

…and mine.

I couldn’t let us leave without a self-portrait. Allen LOVES when we do these (not!). This is me testing the light and getting everything set up for the shot below it.  By the way… I promise I don’t always look this awesome! — We had been out on the beach all day and not realizing I might be in a few photos, I figured I would just shower when we got back. Lesson learned.
