#3… check!

When I first entertained the thought of beginning my blog, I set some rules. Rule #1 was that I WAS GOING TO BLOG. There is nothing more frustrating to me than following a blog that is never updated. Rule #2 was that I was going to blog CONSISTENTLY. And so I began. From that day forward I blogged almost every other day about just about everything that was happening in my business and my life. I honestly enjoy blogging. It is a great way for me to share sessions with my clients and document my life. Sure it can be time consuming and tedious, but it something to which I am committed and has become a big part of my everyday life. I am as much a blogger as I am a photographer.

Because of the consistency with which I blog, #3.  Blog every day for one month was a goal I really wanted to tackle. I have seen some other photographers do the same thing and thought I’d be up for the challenge. I honestly thought that I’d wait until the fall when I’m really busy with Christmas sessions and make it an easy 30 days. But about a month ago I had a really busy week. I strive to turn around sneak peeks quickly so that my clients can see a few images from their session while they wait on proofs. Without meaning to, I blogged four days in a row that week. I looked to the month ahead and decided to go for it.

If I had known then what I know now, I probably would have slapped myself for thinking such a proposterous thing! With out of town trips to Dallas and Charlotte, I really had to think ahead. I didn’t want to “pre-blog” (writing the content and scheduling it to post at a later time), so I was blogging from airports, hotel beds and even the passenger seat of my Jeep. It can take me anywhere from one hour to all day to edit, write and publish a blog post depending on the topic so the fact that I did it during this time was just plain crazy. I have a had a few close calls and more than one late night post. But I did it! I blogged every single day for 30 days in a row. The truth is that I am exhausted and ready to take a break. If I could, I might run far far away and never log into my blog admin screen again. But I still have lots to share and would miss you all like crazy. So I’m off to take a short break and promise to pick back up with regularly scheduled programming soon!
