The internet is a funny thing. The photography community has carved out it’s own little pocket on the world wide web and between forums, facebook, e-mail and blogs, our online world is a small one. Ravyn Stadick is a photographer based in Indianapolis, Indiana who I met this very way. While I was in Indianapolis last weekend, we were able to get together to give her and her cute hubby a little face time IN FRONT of the camera. Like I have said before, it is a little intimidating to photograph a fellow photographer. But Ravyn and her husband, Jimmy, could not have been any cooler about the whole process. Their awesome chemistry and ease in front of the camera made this one of my very favorite sessions.

There was a sweet little alley way near where we started. I think the best part of the session for me was that I was in a new place that I had never seen or been to. There were no preconcieved ideas about where I should shoot or what we should do, so it opened up a level of creativity that I don’t get to explore here in Birmingham.

This amazing bridge from the sneak peek was by far my favorite place we stopped. The colors and the light cast from sun setting behind them was making me do a happy dance on the inside. I am in love with pretty much this entire series and would do whole blog post on it alone if you let me.

To the person who threw these shopping carts out back with complete disregard to the mess you were making. THANK YOU! They made the perfect prop for our little photo shoot!

It’s hard to believe, but all of these locations were within about a two block radius. Next to the bridge, this grassy area came in a close second as the best spot we visited. If we had been in Alabama, I’m pretty sure there would have been a snake somewhere nearby, but we were in Indiana, so we just trudged right in. Ravyn and Jimmy were 100% willing to do whatever I wanted, and the awesome shots we got totally reflect their trust in a crazy Southerner.

Birmingham should consider painting all of their fire hydrants teal, don’t you think?

We were actually done and walking back to the car when I got my bossy voice on and told them to sit. right. here. now. or else. Ok, not really like that, but I am so glad we stopped for one last grand finale, because these make me smile.
