Last Tuesday I had the rare opportunity to be with Kristi and Eric‘s family as they welcomed their new baby into the world. I shot the family’s maternity session earlier this summer and was looking forward to meeting their new addition. When Kristi e-mailed me to ask if I would be willing to come to the hospital to document his birthday, I jumped at the chance. I did not photograph the actual birth, but the images I was able to capture before and after are so special, and I feel blessed that I was able to be part of such a wonderful experience. With Kristi’s permission, I thought I would share a few from Smith’s birthday…
When I arrived to the hospital, Kristi and Eric’s sweet families were waiting with them in her suite. They are the most supportive, genuinely nice people, and I cannot say enough how much I adore this family.
Kristi and Eric put together these fantastic blue rock candy favors for their visitors.
I was waiting in their room when Kristi and Eric brought in the new baby. It was so awesome to document the first moments of his new life.
The best part of the day was when Eric went out to the waiting room to get new big brother Bryant. The look on his face when he saw his baby brother “Smif” was priceless. Everyone was very emotional, and it took all I had to choke back my own tears.
I am so thrilled for Kristi, Eric and Bryant and their growing family. Smith is such a blessing to them, and I know he is loved beyond words.
