When Allen and I got married my mother gave us a card. The outside says, “Remember how everyone was always asking ‘So, when are you getting married?’ Well no one will bug you about that ever again.” Well, thank God! As a couple who dated for five years before getting engaged, I wanted to pull out my hair every time we were asked that question. But when you open the card it continues, “So, when are you going to have a baby?” Ha! Well after skirting the issue for more than three years of marriage, we finally have an answer.
Sometime on/around March 11, 2011, we’ll welcome a little baby Pair into the world! The last few months have been a whirlwind of juggling a hectic work schedule with much needed rest, indulging a hearty appetite and coming to terms with shooting while sporting a growing figure. Despite my verbal purging on this blog, Allen and I are very much the keep-it-to-ourselves kind of people. The news of our growing family has slowly trickled out over time, but this is the first wide spread announcement we’ve made. We are just past the halfway point and couldn’t be more excited for our spring arrival. And yep, it’s a girl!!

I was incredibly fortunate to escape the waves of nausea I have seen so many suffer early in pregnancy. In fact, other than some pesky insomnia and sore joints, I have had few “symptoms” of pregnancy thus far. Long days of shooting do take their toll, but I honestly can’t complain!
I have slowly been cutting back the amount of work I am willing to take on this fall and winter in order to give my current clients 100%. It’s amazing how much energy a growing baby can suck from your life! Allen and I have still not worked out the details of my maternity leave, but I do know that I will be taking a very limited amount of portrait sessions after the first of the year with priority given to my 2011 couples and my first-year babies. I will pick back up with weddings in May 2011 and will again be taking a very limited amount of weddings and portraits as we adjust to life plus one.
A big thanks to my friend Wynter for coming out to the house last week to snap a few photos of me and document this amazing time in our lives!
