#29… check!

I added 29. Watch the Auburn Tigers play at Jordan-Hare. to my list of goals this year in hopes that it would force us back to Auburn for a game. Allen and I are both Auburn alums, and it is where we met back in 2001. Right out of school we knew plenty of people who were still at Auburn, and it was easy to get back to The Plains for a few games each season. As the years have passed it has become increasingly hard to make the time, and we haven’t been back for a game since the last Georgia game two years ago! Because of my hectic weekend work schedule, we made sure to plot out the game we wanted to attend with plenty of advance notice. Our friends Luke and Maggie were able to make the trip from Dallas to go with us, so that made it extra special!

We waited for the game to start near the stadium in the outdoor amphitheater where our friend Chris’ family tailgates every week. It was a great central location and all of our friends met up there for the day.

Our gracious tailgate hostess Miss Bobbie. LOVE HER.

My growing belly gave me a whole new perspective on tailgate food and the endless walking that is required at a football game (think upper deck tickets ya’ll!). I also spent a lot of time watching the tiny tots in their adorable Auburn gear thinking about when we might initiate Baby Girl into the Auburn experience that exists outside of our living room. For the record, I’m thinking later versus sooner, but I’d be interested to hear any personal experiences of taking young kids to a tailgate/game. Do share.

And the moment I’ve been waiting for all year… 29. Watch the Auburn Tigers play at Jordan-Hare. It was an awesome game of ups and downs, but in the end the Tigers took home the win. One perk to upper deck seats (section 110 if anyone cares for perspective) is the BEAUTIFUL sunset that we got to witness that afternoon. I was glad to be there and glad to mark another item off my list!

Also, my friend Taylor Mathis has an awesome food blog called Taylor Takes a Taste in which he chronicles his travel and foodie adventures. This fall, he has a special Tailgate Tour 2010 series in which he travels to 12 universities in 13 weeks to document their tailgating traditions. It just so happened that he was in Auburn the same weekend that we were, and I loved seeing the day from his perspective. The Pair family plus Maggie make an appearance in the post, so check out aptly titled “this is what auburn does with toilet paper” and leave him some comment love.

Hillary - Well, my girls haven’t been to a game because you have to pay full price for a ticket for them, even if the baby is strapped to you!! I’m not willing to do that. But they have both tailgated on the Plains and it’s a blast! War eagle!!November 18, 2010 – 8:50 am
