If you follow me on Twitter or we are friends on Facebook, you have probably already seen the beginnings of my teary eyed trip down memory lane as we prepare for our daughter’s first birthday party. Ava officially hit the 11 month mark yesterday, and we are zooming toward the finish line of our first year as a family of three. Crazy! I am truly shocked at how quickly this year with her has passed, and pulling together photos and details for her party is stirring up the emotions big time.
I am still keeping up with my photo-a-day challenge (shocking, I know!). Last week I saw a post on Twitter from photographer Courtney Reece with this cute list of photos to take in February. The photo of the day was “hands”, so I waited for an opportunity to see if I could capture an unposed shot of Ava’s little chubby fingers and hands. I was happy with what I got.

The light in her room was perfect, so I kept snapping even after she lost interest in the book. I love her silly expressions in these photos and how real they are — it is a true snapshot into her 11-month-old world. I already knew that I would be so happy to look back on this photo challenge at the end of 2012. But the realization of how quickly her first year is coming to a close sealed the deal for me. These memories are priceless!
