beach themed first birthday party for owen

I wouldn’t have told Kristen this before last Saturday, but I had pretty high expectations walking into Owen’s first birthday party. Kristen has an innate talent for putting a lot of thought and detail into the things she does, and I knew she would give the beach themed party all of the attention it deserved. I may or may not have received a few exasperated calls in the days leading up to the party, but as always, Kristen pulled it off with a style and grace only she could.

Party Hat: Dainty Couture
Bunting: Tina Magee Sews
Cake Pops/Cupcakes: Courtney Authement
Cake: Dreamcakes
Paper Treat Bags: Sweet Lulu
Striped Straws: Sweet Lulu
Cupcake Cups: Sweet Lulu
Wooden Forks: Garnish
Invitations: Honey + Salt Studio

The invitation was the first glimpse I had into the beach/ocean theme of the party. The invitations were hand stamped and water colored by Honey + Salt Studio in Indianapolis. I love the behind-the-scenes perspective in this this post by the designer.

It was so fun to walk in and see so many photographs that I have taken of Owen and his family over the last year. Seeing a collection like this reminds me so much of why I love what I do!

Cake is always my favorite part! Instead of sticking his hands into the cake like we thought he would, Owen dove in head first. Haha! That’s the way to eat cake! I love these next two.

Leandra - Oh my gosh! I love this party! Well done Kristen! I am presently planning my son’s first birthday party and the theme is beach themed. I love the ideas in the post. Where did you get the bubbles from? And did you do the label for the bubbles and favor bags yourself? Please let me know. ThanksMay 31, 2013 – 10:44 am
