camden turns one | pirate themed first birthday

Having a baby is a funny thing. Pregnancy is the one time in my life that I felt an overwhelming need to recruit others into the “club”. I loved finding out that others were expecting and seriously wanted everyone I knew to have a baby at the same time as me. I was lucky enough to share part of my pregnancy with my long-distance photo buddy, Katie. Through the bond created during pregnancy and caring for a newborn, and because our babies are only four months apart, I have been able to watch Camden grow with an endearing perspective. Although we met Camden back in the fall, I mostly observed his first year in photos. So I was super excited when Katie asked me to photograph his first birthday party!

Camden had a scheduled eye surgery just a few days before his birthday. Seeing the positive in the situation, Katie had the brilliant idea to throw Camden a pirate themed first birthday party. The details were so cute and well thought out. I loved everything about it, including the pirate ship table!

One of my favorite details that I’m pretty sure was created using this polaroid tutorial!

And there’s the birthday boy himself! Sweet Camden. So many of Camden’s friends turned out for the party. It was a treat for me to photograph so many cute faces all corralled into one room. No chasing required! :)

Wynter - I spent soooo much time researching the perfect party details for B and M’s bday parties in March. I thought… ” I can take the pics myself. After all… I am a photographer.” WRONG!!!!!! After all the late nights leading up to their parties, making sure the candy jars and soda pops were absolutely “perfect”, I completely failed to take pics. I tried to get a few details before the guests arrived, but you can’t be a host and a photographer at the same time. Lesson learned! Everyone reading this – HIRE A PROFESSIONAL! That way, you can enjoy your child, your efforts AND be included their photos. Amanda – You did a wonderful job on this one. Next year, I think I’ll stick to the party planning and I’ll leave the photos up to you! ;-) Another great job!!August 17, 2012 – 10:18 pm
