I’m just going to be honest here and tell you… I had really high expectations for Kalee and Jonathan’s May wedding. From the first time I sat down with them to talk about their plans to their super fun engagement session last fall, I knew it was going to be a great day. I have been taking on little projects here and there during my maternity leave, but I was excited to ease back into a little summer wedding work by photographing their fun and relaxed day. And I have to say, it did not disappoint! Their was so much love in the tiny details that the couple and their families worked SO hard to pull together and in the big smiles plastered on Kalee and Jonathan’s faces. I am so happy for these two and can hardly wait to see what the future has in store!
The wedding was held at the People’s home in Trussville, Alabama. I absolutely LOVE their home as a wedding venue. It gave Kalee and Jonathan’s day such a personal feel, and the property gave us a gorgeous backdrop for all of their wedding photos. Kalee and her friends got ready in the house and we were able to stay on the grounds for every other part of the day.
The expression on Jonathan’s face KILLS me! This is why couples need to have a first look. I love it!
Until a recent move to Kansas City, MO, Kalee was the meteorologist on a local station here in Birmingham (where she and Jonathan met). I don’t think I was the only one who found it fitting that her and Jonathan’s wedding day fell on one of the most beautiful weather days we have had here in some time. It was perfect out, and there was beautiful light everywhere I looked!
Kalee’s one request — a “silly” wedding party photo. The group fell into this pose way too naturally :) It makes me laugh every time I see it.
The wedding reception was the perfect end to the day. I couldn’t help but include some of my favorite images, including my favorite little party guest at her first wedding!
I can’t remember if I mentioned it before, but Jonathan and my husband Allen are
twins cousins. That means I have known Jonathan for almost 12 years and love him and his family like they are my own. It has been so fun getting to know Kalee these last few years, and I seriously could not be happier for them. This is definitely one of my favorite photos from the day!
