Twilla and Joe are expecting their first baby, a little girl, in May. It was so sweet to see the genuine excitement in their eyes as they talked about welcoming her this spring. You know I’m totally biased for a baby girl, but I’m certain she will bless their lives more than they ever imagine!

I had so much fun spending the afternoon with Twilla and Joe. They are so cute together and made my job way too easy! I promise you, Twilla could not be any cuter as a mama-to-be. Twilla told me that she wanted to have maternity photos taken as a keepsake for their daughter. So these are for Reese…

While the number of photos of me and my girl pale in comparison to the amount of time we spend together, there are a few floating around here and there. These were snapped by Allen after Ava’s birthday party earlier this month. We were out in the back yard playing and the light was just beautiful. My camera was laying off to the side, and Allen starting shooting. Lo and behold. I do exist!

the birth of ivy hazel

I was up super early last Thursday to be in Montgomery with our friends April and Scott as they welcomed their brand new baby girl to the world. There was so much anticipation surrounding Ivy’s arrival, and I was so excited to be but a small part of such a big day.

“For this child I prayed; and the LORD has given me my petition which I asked of him.” 1 Samuel 1:27

These words continue to flood my mind when thinking back to the birth of baby Ivy. The road to get here has been a long one. It has been filled with joy and sadness, struggles and questions, and lots and lots of prayer. April has grown leaps and bounds in the process, and I am so incredibly proud of her positive attitude and faithfulness along the way. I truly believe that all new life is a miracle. But as we stood with April and Scott in the last few moments before Ivy was born, it was not lost on me that we were witnessing God’s work right there in Labor and Delivery Room #4. In his perfect timing, God answered April and Scott’s fervent prayers. And her name is Ivy Hazel.

She is getting more confident each day, and I can see that look in her eye. She wants to walk, but just can’t quite get the courage to let go. She is taking her time, and I’m ok with that. Her little hand wrapped around my finger for balance is the sweetest thing in the world. Of course I am looking forward to seeing her toddle along on her own, but I am content in the fact that she is not yet running quite away :)
